The Corona Virus (COVID-19) pandemic situation remained grim globally, with the confirmed cases across the world soaring to 2,91,57,152 and the death toll reaching 9,26,532 in the 216 affected countries and territories on Tuesday, according to the latest update from the World Health Organization (WHO).
Globally, American region continued to be the worst-hit with 1,49,02,718 confirmed cases and 5,13,222 deaths. Europe reported 48,76,831 confirmed cases and 2,26,388 deaths. South-East Asia region’s tally stood at 55,65,977 confirmed cases and 94,871 deaths.
Eastern Mediterranean region reported 21,32,383 confirmed cases and 55,713 deaths. African region registered 11,23,273 confirmed cases and 24,077 deaths. Western Pacific region recorded 5,55,970 confirmed cases and 12,261 deaths. WHO Risk Assessment at global level remained very high. (eom)
