The Corona Virus (COVID-19) pandemic situation remained grim globally, with the confirmed cases across the world soaring to 2,94,44,198 and the death toll reaching 9,31,321 in the 216 affected countries and territories on Wednesday, according to the latest update from the World Health Organization (WHO).
Globally, American region continued to be the worst-hit with 1,49,86,799 confirmed cases and 5,15,067 deaths. Europe reported 49,57,361 confirmed cases and 2,27,207 deaths. South-East Asia region’s tally stood at 56,63,231 confirmed cases and 96,347 deaths.
Eastern Mediterranean region reported 21,48,615 confirmed cases and 56,084 deaths. African region registered 11,27,164 confirmed cases and 24,294 deaths. Western Pacific region recorded 5,60,287 confirmed cases and 12,309 deaths. WHO Risk Assessment at global level remained very high. (eom)
