The Corona Virus (COVID-19) pandemic situation remained grim globally, with the confirmed cases across the world soaring to 2,97,37,453 and the death toll reaching 9,37,391 in the 216 affected countries and territories on Thursday, according to the latest update from the World Health Organization (WHO).
Globally, American region continued to be the worst-hit with 1,50,95,402 confirmed cases and 5,18,459 deaths. Europe reported 50,11,212 confirmed cases and 2,27,971 deaths. South-East Asia region’s tally stood at 57,68,599 confirmed cases and 97,650 deaths.
Eastern Mediterranean region reported 21,65,227 confirmed cases and 56,494 deaths. African region registered 11,31,482 confirmed cases and 24,400 deaths. Western Pacific region recorded 5,64,790 confirmed cases and 12,404 deaths. WHO Risk Assessment at global level remained very high. (eom)
