Telangana records 531 positive cases of COVID-19 so far, death toll rises to 16

The number of confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 in Telangana State rose to 531 and the death toll increased to 16 in the last 24 hours. 103 persons were so far discharged from hospitals after recovery.  

In a media bulletin, the Director of Public Health and Family Welfare said that in view of COVID-19 global pandemic, the state of Telangana has strengthened surveillance, contact tracing and containment measures against the possible spread of disease.

Referring to special initiatives for other essential services, the Director said that the Blood Banks are functional and blood is being made available at all government blood banks through Institute of Preventive Medicine (IPM) at Hyderabad to meet the emergency requirement. 

Uninterrupted Services are being provided to the pregnant women and at the time of Delivery. Specific preventive measures are being taken at the time of delivery. The 108 Services are provided at all times for all health-related emergencies.

INITIATIVES TAKEN UP

Till date there is no evidence of community transmission in Telangana, though 202 Hot Spots are identified in the State. Six Diagnostic labs are functional 24/7 to meet the diagnostic demand. The family contacts and secondary contacts of Markaz, Delhi are being traced, tracked, tested and treated for COVID-19. Containment activity has been taken up in all the districts where the positive cases are reported. (eom)
