The Corona Virus (COVID-19) pandemic situation remained grim globally, with the confirmed cases across the world soaring to 3,00,55,710 and the death toll reaching 9,43,433 in the 216 affected countries and territories on Friday, according to the latest update from the World Health Organization (WHO).
Globally, American region continued to be the worst-hit with 1,52,15,110 confirmed cases and 5,21,872 deaths. Europe reported 50,79,896 confirmed cases and 2,28,669 deaths. South-East Asia region’s tally stood at 58,71,987 confirmed cases and 99,001 deaths.
Eastern Mediterranean region reported 21,82,798 confirmed cases and 56,884 deaths. African region registered 11,36,235 confirmed cases and 24,514 deaths. Western Pacific region recorded 5,68,943 confirmed cases and 12,480 deaths. WHO Risk Assessment at global level remained very high. (eom)
