The Corona Virus (COVID-19) pandemic situation remained grim globally, with the confirmed cases across the world soaring to 2,53,27,098 and the death toll reaching 8,48,255 in the 216 affected countries and territories on Tuesday, according to the latest update from the World Health Organization (WHO).
Globally, American region continued to be the worst-hit with 1,33,56,411 confirmed cases and 4,67,149 deaths. Europe came next with 42,55,328 confirmed cases and 2,19,892 deaths. South-East Asia region’s tally stood at 42,33,827 confirmed cases and 77,318 deaths.
Eastern Mediterranean region reported 19,27,266 confirmed cases and 51,092 deaths. African region registered 10,56,120 confirmed cases and 21,999 deaths. Western Pacific region recorded 4,97,405 confirmed cases and 10,792 deaths. WHO Risk Assessment at global level remained very high. (eom)
