The Corona Virus (COVID-19) pandemic situation remained grim globally, with the confirmed cases across the world soaring to 4,25,30,816 and the death toll reaching 11,47,432 in the 216 affected countries and territories on Sunday, according to the latest update from the World Health Organization (WHO).
Globally, American region continued to be the worst-hit with 1,94,77,882 confirmed cases and 6,22,086 deaths. Europe reported 92,74,583 confirmed cases and 2,67,636 deaths. South-East Asia region’s tally stood at 88,70,366 confirmed cases and 1,39,537 deaths.
Eastern Mediterranean region reported 29,08,574 confirmed cases and 73,848 deaths. African region registered 12,91,315 confirmed cases and 29,145 deaths. Western Pacific region recorded 7,07,355 confirmed cases and 15,167 deaths. WHO Risk Assessment at global level remained very high. (eom)
