GLOBALLY COVID-19 CASES HIT 43 MILLION AND DEATH TOLL RISES TO 1.15 MILLION

The Corona Virus (COVID-19) pandemic situation remained grim globally, with the confirmed cases across the world soaring to 4,29,66,344 and the death toll reaching 11,52,604 in the 216 affected countries and territories on Monday, according to the latest update from the World Health Organization (WHO).

Globally, American region continued to be the worst-hit with 1,96,29,837 confirmed cases and 6,24,532 deaths. Europe reported 94,72,859 confirmed cases and 2,69,102  deaths. South-East Asia region’s tally stood at 89,24,840 confirmed cases and 1,40,169 deaths.

Eastern Mediterranean region reported 29,31,368 confirmed cases and 74,372 deaths. African region registered 12,95,541 confirmed cases and 29,191 deaths. Western Pacific region recorded 7,11,158 confirmed cases and 15,225 deaths. WHO Risk Assessment at global level remained very high. (eom)
