The Corona Virus (COVID-19) pandemic situation remained grim globally, with the confirmed cases across the world soaring to 2,74,86,960 and the death toll reaching 8,94,983 in the 216 affected countries and territories on Wednesday, according to the latest update from the World Health Organization (WHO).
Globally, American region continued to be the worst-hit with 1,42,57,006 confirmed cases and 4,95,665 deaths. Europe reported 46,00,967 confirmed cases and 2,23,688 deaths. South-East Asia region’s tally stood at 49,64,948 confirmed cases and 87,089 deaths.
Eastern Mediterranean region reported 20,40,265 confirmed cases and 53,749 deaths. African region registered 10,96,731 confirmed cases and 23,371 deaths. Western Pacific region recorded 5,26,302 confirmed cases and 11,408 deaths. WHO Risk Assessment at global level remained very high. (eom)
