The Corona Virus (COVID-19) pandemic situation remained grim globally, with the confirmed cases across the world soaring to 2,72,68,811 and the death toll reaching 8,91,145 in the 216 affected countries and territories on Tuesday, according to the latest update from the World Health Organization (WHO).
Globally, American region continued to be the worst-hit with 1,41,92,523 confirmed cases and 4,94,126 deaths. Europe reported 45,68,814 confirmed cases and 2,23,221 deaths. South-East Asia region’s tally stood at 48,69,112 confirmed cases and 85,828 deaths.
Eastern Mediterranean region reported 20,23,392 confirmed cases and 53,375 deaths. African region registered 10,92,149 confirmed cases and 23,229 deaths. Western Pacific region recorded 5,22,080 confirmed cases and 11,353 deaths. WHO Risk Assessment at global level remained very high. (eom)
