The Corona Virus (COVID-19) pandemic situation remained grim globally, with the confirmed cases across the world soaring to 2,17,32,472 and the death toll reaching 7,70,866 in the 216 affected countries and territories. The tally included 1,82,766 fresh cases and 3,708 new deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the latest update from the World Health Organization (WHO).
Globally, American region continued to be the worst-hit with 1,16,67,196 confirmed cases and 4,19,995 deaths. Europe came next with 37,79,672 confirmed cases and 2,14,355 deaths. South-East Asia region’s tally stood at 31,63,233 confirmed cases and 61,903 deaths.
Eastern Mediterranean region reported 17,48,877 confirmed cases and 46,446 deaths. African region registered 9,53,088 confirmed cases and 18,708 deaths. Western Pacific region recorded 4,19,665 confirmed cases and 9,446 deaths. WHO Risk Assessment at global level remained very high. (eom)
