The Corona Virus (COVID-19) pandemic situation remained grim globally, with the confirmed cases across the world soaring to 2,37,52,965 and the death toll reaching 8,15,038 in the 216 affected countries and territories on Wednesday, according to the latest update from the World Health Organization (WHO).
Globally, American region continued to be the worst-hit with 1,26,08,786 confirmed cases and 4,46,716 deaths. Europe came next with 40,66,458 confirmed cases and 2,17,601 deaths. South-East Asia region’s tally stood at 37,39,605 confirmed cases and 70,603 deaths.
Eastern Mediterranean region reported 18,52,743 confirmed cases and 49,255 deaths. African region registered 10,19,362 confirmed cases and 20,828 deaths. Western Pacific region recorded 4,65,270 confirmed cases and 10,022 deaths. WHO Risk Assessment at global level remained very high. (eom)
