The Corona Virus (COVID-19) pandemic situation remained grim globally, with the confirmed cases across the world soaring to 2,35,18,343 and the death toll reaching 8,10,492 in the 216 affected countries and territories on Tuesday, according to the latest update from the World Health Organization (WHO).
Globally, American region continued to be the worst-hit with 1,25,19,981 confirmed cases and 4,44,362 deaths. Europe came next with 40,16,133 confirmed cases and 2,17,222 deaths. South-East Asia region’s tally stood at 36,66,425 confirmed cases and 69,392 deaths.
Eastern Mediterranean region reported 18,40,077 confirmed cases and 48,927 deaths. African region registered 10,13,995 confirmed cases and 20,607 deaths. Western Pacific region recorded 4,60,991 confirmed cases and 9,969 deaths. WHO Risk Assessment at global level remained very high. (eom)
