The Corona Virus (COVID-19) pandemic situation remained grim globally, with the confirmed cases across the world soaring to 2,77,38,179 and the death toll reaching 8,99,916 in the 216 affected countries and territories on Thursday, according to the latest update from the World Health Organization (WHO).
Globally, American region continued to be the worst-hit with 1,43,37,245 confirmed cases and 4,98,255 deaths. Europe reported 46,45,519 confirmed cases and 2,24,145 deaths. South-East Asia region’s tally stood at 50,67,207 confirmed cases and 88,418 deaths.
Eastern Mediterranean region reported 20,55,446 confirmed cases and 54,064 deaths. African region registered 11,01,618 confirmed cases and 23,515 deaths. Western Pacific region recorded 5,30,403 confirmed cases and 11,506 deaths. WHO Risk Assessment at global level remained very high. (eom)
