The Corona Virus (COVID-19) pandemic situation remained grim globally, with the confirmed cases across the world soaring to 3,09,49,804 and the death toll reaching 9,59,116 in the 216 affected countries and territories on Sunday, according to the latest update from the World Health Organization (WHO).
Globally, American region continued to be the worst-hit with 1,55,80,622 confirmed cases and 5,30,373 deaths. Europe reported 52,36,252 confirmed cases and 2,30,164 deaths. South-East Asia region’s tally stood at 61,67,904 confirmed cases and 102,984 deaths.
Eastern Mediterranean region reported 22,32,748 confirmed cases and 58,045 deaths. African region registered 11,49,640 confirmed cases and 24,808 deaths. Western Pacific region recorded 5,81,897 confirmed cases and 12,729 deaths. WHO Risk Assessment at global level remained very high. (eom)
