The Corona Virus (COVID-19) pandemic situation remained grim globally, with the confirmed cases across the world soaring to 2,86,37,952 and the death toll reaching 9,17,417 in the 216 affected countries and territories on Sunday, according to the latest update from the World Health Organization (WHO).
Globally, American region continued to be the worst-hit with 1,46,99,174 confirmed cases and 5,08,705 deaths. Europe reported 47,96,426 confirmed cases and 2,25,494 deaths. South-East Asia region’s tally stood at 53,77,062 confirmed cases and 92,391 deaths.
Eastern Mediterranean region reported 21,01,676 confirmed cases and 55,012 deaths. African region registered 11,16,321 confirmed cases and 23,916 deaths. Western Pacific region recorded 5,46,552 confirmed cases and 11,886 deaths. WHO Risk Assessment at global level remained very high. (eom)
