The Corona Virus (COVID-19) pandemic situation remained grim globally, with the confirmed cases across the world soaring to 4,20,55,863 and the death toll reaching 11,41,567 in the 216 affected countries and territories on Saturday, according to the latest update from the World Health Organization (WHO).
Globally, American region continued to be the worst-hit with 1,93,17,767 confirmed cases and 6,19,339 deaths. Europe reported 90,51,417 confirmed cases and 2,65,998 deaths. South-East Asia region’s tally stood at 88,11,018 confirmed cases and 1,38,771 deaths.
Eastern Mediterranean region reported 28,84,897 confirmed cases and 73,266 deaths. African region registered 12,86,783 confirmed cases and 29,046 deaths. Western Pacific region recorded 7,03,240 confirmed cases and 15,134 deaths. WHO Risk Assessment at global level remained very high. (eom)
