The Corona Virus (COVID-19) pandemic situation remained grim globally, with the confirmed cases across the world soaring to 2,30,57,288 and the death toll reaching 8,00,906 in the 216 affected countries and territories on Sunday, according to the latest update from the World Health Organization (WHO).
Globally, American region continued to be the worst-hit with 1,22,83,953 confirmed cases and 4,38,576 deaths. Europe came next with 39,70,890 confirmed cases and 2,16,478 deaths. South-East Asia region’s tally stood at 35,33,807 confirmed cases and 67,455 deaths.
Eastern Mediterranean region reported 18,16,207 confirmed cases and 48,193 deaths. African region registered 10,00,379 confirmed cases and 20,321 deaths. Western Pacific region recorded 4,51,311 confirmed cases and 9,870 deaths. WHO Risk Assessment at global level remained very high. (eom)
