The Corona Virus (COVID-19) pandemic situation remained grim globally, with the confirmed cases across the world soaring to 2,58,47,521 and the death toll reaching 8,58,766 in the 216 affected countries and territories on Thursday, according to the latest update from the World Health Organization (WHO).
Globally, American region continued to be the worst-hit with 1,35,96,877 confirmed cases and 4,73,437 deaths. Europe reported 43,10,197 confirmed cases and 2,20,436 deaths. South-East Asia region’s tally stood at 44,09,210 confirmed cases and 79,699 deaths.
Eastern Mediterranean region reported 19,52,491 confirmed cases and 51,749 deaths. African region registered 10,72,423 confirmed cases and 22,523 deaths. Western Pacific region recorded 5,05,582 confirmed cases and 10,909 deaths. WHO Risk Assessment at global level remained very high. (eom)
