The Corona Virus (COVID-19) pandemic situation remained grim globally, with the confirmed cases across the world soaring to 2,80,40,853 and the death toll reaching 9,06,092 in the 216 affected countries and territories on Friday, according to the latest update from the World Health Organization (WHO).
Globally, American region continued to be the worst-hit with 1,44,47,680 confirmed cases and 5,01,934 deaths. Europe reported 47,07,944 confirmed cases and 2,24,660 deaths. South-East Asia region’s tally stood at 51,71,098 confirmed cases and 89,793 deaths.
Eastern Mediterranean region reported 20,71,058 confirmed cases and 54,420 deaths. African region registered 11,06,919 confirmed cases and 23,666 deaths. Western Pacific region recorded 5,35,413 confirmed cases and 11,606 deaths. WHO Risk Assessment at global level remained very high. (eom)
