The Corona Virus (COVID-19) pandemic situation remained grim globally, with the confirmed cases across the world soaring to 2,83,29,790 and the death toll reaching 9,11,877 in the 216 affected countries and territories on Saturday, according to the latest update from the World Health Organization (WHO).
Globally, American region continued to be the worst-hit with 1,45,66,710 confirmed cases and 5,05,397deaths. Europe reported 47,47,273 confirmed cases and 2,25,124 deaths. South-East Asia region’s tally stood at 52,75,943 confirmed cases and 91,121 deaths.
Eastern Mediterranean region reported 20,86,849 confirmed cases and 54,724 deaths. African region registered 11,11,680 confirmed cases and 23,824 deaths. Western Pacific region recorded 5,40,594 confirmed cases and 11,674 deaths. WHO Risk Assessment at global level remained very high. (eom)
