Eleven fresh cases of COVID-19 were reported in Telangana on Sunday, taking the State’s total to 1,001 confirmed cases. The death toll remained at 25, with no fresh fatality reported in the last 24 hours. 316 patients were discharged after recovery so far and 660 active confirmed cases are in the hospitals now, according to official status update.
Director of Public Health and Family Welfare said that in view of Covid-19 global pandemic, the State of Telangana has strengthened surveillance, contact tracing and containment measures against the possible spread of disease. New positive cases were reported from GHMC and other districts.
Chief Minister Sri K Chandrashekhar Rao has expressed satisfaction that Corona Virus spread had been on the decrease in the State due to total implementation of the lockdown. He said that if people extended their support to the lockdown for some more days and followed the guidelines provided by the government on containment of the virus spread, the situation would further improve for the better. He said that on Monday when Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacts with the CMs through vide conference, the situation in the country would be known.
The CM held a high-level review meeting here at Pragathi Bhavan on Sunday on the implementation of lockdown, measures taken to contain spread of Corona Virus and other issues. Medical and Health Minister Etela Rajender, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, DGP Mahender Reddy, Chief Advisor Rajiv Sharma, Principal secretaries Narsing Rao, Ms Shanta Kumari, Ramakrishna Rao and others participated.
The CM reviewed the situation in Hyderabad and other areas. He enquired about the assistance given in the Containment Centres and instructed that the essential commodities should be supplied at these Centres so that people are not put to suffering. He also inquired about the treatment given to those admitted with Corona in Gandhi Hospital.
The CM felt that the death rate due to Corona virus in the State is far less than the national average, which is some solace to the State. The CM said that if the present lockdown continues for some time and people maintain their personal hygiene and take precautions; the virus spread will totally come down during the days to come.
“The PM has a video conference with all the CMs in the country. The CMs will explain about situation in their respective States at the conference. There will be some assessment on the situation in the country and in the States. Opinions on how the next plan of action will also figure in Monday’s conference. Hence there will be clarity on future course of action,” the CM said.
Meanwhile, the GHMC, in a press note, said that all containment zones in Hyderabad are taken up for containment activities by barricading the entire area, as per the guidelines issued by the Government. All roads of the locality are closed by giving one common entry and exit point to the zone. The containment zone information is also intimated to all the residents of that area.
Nodal Officers were appointed from GHMC, Health, Police, Entomology wings. Sanitation officer is also appointed from GHMC. Surveillance team is appointed to conduct door to door fever survey. For supply of medicines from nearest Medical shop, vendor details are communicated to the all households.
Restrictions are imposed on all residents in the containment area to confine in their houses. One Nodal officer is appointed for the convenience of the public in containment area. Pamphlets are distributed to all residents with contact numbers to attend essential needs. Vendors are also appointed for supplying essential commodities, vegetables and milk. GHMC appointed one employee to attend to the household calls for home delivery.
Special teams are deployed to do sanitation two times in a day. Teams are also appointed for spraying sodium hypo chlorite chemical twice a day in the containment zone. Emergency teams are working round the clock to monitor the situation in the containment area. (eom)
