The Corona Virus (COVID-19) pandemic situation remained grim globally, with the confirmed cases across the world soaring to 2,89,18,900 and the death toll reaching 9,22,252 in the 216 affected countries and territories on Monday, according to the latest update from the World Health Organization (WHO).
Globally, American region continued to be the worst-hit with 1,48,15,178 confirmed cases and 5,11,427 deaths. Europe reported 48,40,830 confirmed cases and 2,25,889 deaths. South-East Asia region’s tally stood at 54,75,657 confirmed cases and 93,649 deaths.
Eastern Mediterranean region reported 21,16,189 confirmed cases and 55,320 deaths. African region registered 11,19,641 confirmed cases and 23,972 deaths. Western Pacific region recorded 5,50,664 confirmed cases and 11,982 deaths. WHO Risk Assessment at global level remained very high. (eom)
