The Corona Virus (COVID-19) pandemic situation remained grim globally, with the confirmed cases across the world soaring to 2,45,87,513 and the death toll reaching 8,33,556 in the 216 affected countries and territories on Saturday, according to the latest update from the World Health Organization (WHO).
Globally, American region continued to be the worst-hit with 1,30,05,995 confirmed cases and 4,58,444 deaths. Europe came next with 41,80,463 confirmed cases and 2,18,845 deaths. South-East Asia region’s tally stood at 39,87,855 confirmed cases and 74,192 deaths.
Eastern Mediterranean region reported 18,91,458 confirmed cases and 50,183 deaths. African region registered 10,38,418 confirmed cases and 21,444 deaths. Western Pacific region recorded 4,82,583 confirmed cases and 10,435 deaths. WHO Risk Assessment at global level remained very high. (eom)
