The Corona Virus (COVID-19) pandemic situation remained grim globally, with the confirmed cases across the world soaring to 2,28,12,491 and the death toll reaching 7,95,132 in the 216 affected countries and territories on Saturday, according to the latest update from the World Health Organization (WHO).
Globally, American region continued to be the worst-hit with 1,21,64,684 confirmed cases and 4,34,731 deaths. Europe came next with 39,47,837 confirmed cases and 2,16,203 deaths. South-East Asia region’s tally stood at 34,59,439 confirmed cases and 66,392 deaths.
Eastern Mediterranean region reported 18,03,360 confirmed cases and 47,861 deaths. African region registered 9,91,766 confirmed cases and 20,110 deaths. Western Pacific region recorded 4,44,664 confirmed cases and 9,822 deaths. WHO Risk Assessment at global level remained very high. (eom)
