The Corona Virus (COVID-19) pandemic situation remained grim globally, with the confirmed cases across the world soaring to 2,22,56,220 and the death toll reaching 7,82,456 in the 216 affected countries and territories on Thursday, according to the latest update from the World Health Organization (WHO).
Globally, American region continued to be the worst-hit with 1,18,87,224 confirmed cases and 4,26,497 deaths. Europe came next with 38,74,604 confirmed cases and 2,15,365 deaths. South-East Asia region’s tally stood at 33,08,987 confirmed cases and 64,212 deaths.
Eastern Mediterranean region reported 17,76,899 confirmed cases and 47,190 deaths. African region registered 9,75,551 confirmed cases and 19,557 deaths. Western Pacific region recorded 4,32,214 confirmed cases and 9,622 deaths. WHO Risk Assessment at global level remained very high. (eom)
